Safe+Sound Somerset

Join our empowering 60-hour training program designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to support survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This comprehensive course covers the dynamics of domestic abuse, survivor empowerment, resource familiarity, and practical expectations for aiding survivors. Offered biannually, our hybrid training includes six in-person sessions held at our Somerset, NJ office, complemented by 48 hours of online content via Intuto. With no cost to participate, this training meets the Attorney General’s requirements for Domestic Violence and Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate roles. Certificates are transferable across New Jersey agencies. The 60-Hour Domestic/Sexual Violence Advocate training gives basic knowledge to: Understand the dynamics of domestic abuse Learn how to empower survivors Become familiar with resources and procedures Develop practical expectations for helping survivors. The training is offered twice a year in the fall and spring and typically adheres to the following structure: Six (6) in-person training sessions from 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M, The in-person training sessions take place at our downtown administrative office in Somerset, New Jersey. The specific address will be disclosed to you upon acceptance into the training program. Cohorts are limited to fifteen (15) slots available per training. This is a hybrid training with the remaining 48 hours of content being administered via Intuto, our online Learning Management Platform There is no cost associated with taking this course. This training satisfies the Attorney Generals requirements for the Domestic Violence Advocate role, and the Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate role. Please note, this certificate is transferrable to other Domestic Violence & Sexual Violence agencies throughout the state of New Jersey. Join the Community Action Team (CAT), Be a Voice for Change in Somerset County What is the Community Action Team? The Community Action Team (CAT) is a passionate, volunteer-led group that supports Safe+Sound Somerset’s mission to end domestic violence and sexual assault. As a CAT member, you’ll help raise awareness, educate the public, and build a stronger, safer community through outreach, advocacy, and action. Why Join? As a CAT member, you’ll serve as a Safe+Sound Somerset Ambassador, connecting with individuals, organizations, and events across Somerset County. You’ll help spread knowledge, support survivors, and inspire meaningful change. Your Impact Will Include: - Representing Safe+Sound Somerset at community events like health fairs, cultural festivals, and awareness campaigns Assisting with event planning, setup, and outreach - Helping develop and test a new Community Building Toolkit - Supporting data collection to improve outreach and prevention efforts - Promoting safe, inclusive spaces and gender equity - Strengthening community connections and belonging Our Goal: To create a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered to live free from violence.
